Visit Dartmoor (I’m on the internet)

After I posted here recently about accessibility on the moors, I was approached by the folks at Visit Dartmoor website about potentially writing something for their Access For All pages.

Writing it was a slightly daunting prospect. I write for clients fairly regularly, but they are helpfully anonymous, published under the client’s name and writing here is stress free as there is no expectation that anyone will actually read what I have written.  Writing something that will be read more widely and having my name (and face) to it, made me question myself and my abilities.

My main concern was that writing about the accident would come across as overly sentimental or mawkish, so I edited fiercely until I eventually produced something that I was happy with. Hopefully it will continue as a series of blog posts for Visit Dartmoor uncovering accessible spots on the moor, not just for those with mobility issues, but also for young families and those who have slowed down with advancing years.
